DAY AT WORK

I’m passionate about helping people reach their potential and being part of work that makes a difference. As Director of Training & Development at Lexicon, I spend my days shaping pathways that help individuals discover who they can become. A typical workday blends strategy with heart – designing large-scale talent development programs, partnering with leaders to create meaningful learning experiences and championing the growth of a skilled workforce for technical and industrial environments. Every project, from crafting ironworker on-the-job curricula to developing leadership pipelines, is rooted in one goal: unlocking potential and driving skill growth.

CAREER EVOLUTION

My journey into this work didn’t begin in a traditional STEAM role; it began with curiosity. While I was studying Education and Human Performance Improvement, I became fascinated by how training and skills development can change a person’s confidence, career and future. That interest eventually led me into technical industries, where skill, safety and precision are essential. Being in those environments showed me what’s possible when you invest intentionally in people and build systems that support both the workforce and the industry itself.

LOVE THE WORK

What I love most about my job is witnessing transformation – the moment someone realizes they can do something they once doubted, or that their career can stretch farther than they imagined. At its best, learning and development opens doors people didn’t always know were there.

SURPRISING BUT TRUE

For young women considering STEAM careers, I believe they may be surprised by how many roles welcome not only technical ability but creativity, communication, leadership and resilience. STEAM isn’t a single blueprint — it’s an entire industrial complex with rooms to build, lead and shape — and women are needed in all of them.

ADVICE

Be bold in your curiosity. Trust that your perspective matters. Seek out challenges, not perfection. And when you find yourself in spaces where you’re one of few, stand confidently. You are not just opening doors for yourself; you are widening the path for every woman who will follow.
