DAY AT WORK

I lead a large team at Lexicon, helping coordinate projects and ensuring deadlines are met. We handle various company finances, from account management and payroll, to taxes and audits. It is never a dull day in the office!

BEGINNING INTERESTS

I have always enjoyed working with numbers. I was the kid in school who loved math class, and it was always my favorite subject. I took my first accounting course in high school and was drawn to the different combinations that led to balancing the end results.

LOVE THE WORK

I appreciate the people I work with the most. Every day is a new adventure with my team. We have been through very challenging times and experienced many changes. I am fortunate to have a supportive boss and leadership team at Lexicon who show up for us whenever we ask, and even when we don’t. When you spend most of your day at work, the people you are with matter.

SURPRISING BUT TRUE

While most STEAM careers were once male-dominated, the culture is shifting. When I first started working, most leadership roles were held by men. That is no longer the case. Women offer such a unique perspective in STEAM careers: our natural skill sets add a valuable layer when it comes to strategy and decision-making.

ADVICE

Don’t be afraid to work in a field that historically has been male-dominated. Lexicon encourages me to embrace my role, speak up without fear and expand my skill set — all while providing the tools to meet those expectations.
