Steel Day 2025

Lexicon is proud to host Steel Day 2025 on Wednesday, Oct. 29, with the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) and American Welding Society (AWS). Held at Lexicon's Little Rock headquarters, the day will feature a live, hands-on welding competition for invited Central Arkansas high school and community college welding students. Each school may bring up to 10 students to participate in the competition, along with other interested students to watch the competition and enjoy tours and activities throughout the day.

ALL students planning to attend - both those competing and those participating as spectators - must complete the form below prior to Oct. 29. Thanks!

MUST READ: Competition Rules and Requirements
The competition is open by invitation to Central Arkansas high school juniors and seniors and community college students.

Students must:
Be familiar with the FCAW process.
Bring their own PPE.
Put together the assembly and weld, as shown, on the drawing.
Complete the assembly in no more than 30 minutes.

Additional information:
Students will be provided with a drawing, parts, welding machines and filler materials. They’ll have 30 minutes to complete an assigned assembly drawing in Lexicon’s welding booths.
Participating students will be provided with the drawing in advance, and they may practice at school before the competition.
An independent group of judges will review the projects and judge based on the accuracy of assembly, welding and overall appearance.
The winning student from each school will receive a prize, and the overall winner will receive a *$1,000 AWS scholarship for welding classes. The overall winning school will also receive a commemorative plaque.
Students will tour Lexicon’s Custom Metals shop, enjoy light refreshments and participate in additional on-site activities.

*Note: The overall winner will be announced – and the school notified – after the event.
