Steel has emerged as one of the state’s hottest industries, and Little Rock-based steel fabrication and construction company Lexicon is sizing up to meet the demand.
Lexicon held a ribbon-cutting Monday, June 22, at its Little Rock headquarters to officially usher in a step forward, revealing an expanded lobby, a number of areas dedicated to professional development, a cafe for employees and a replica of founder Tom Schueck’s office.
“I think this is a testament,” Lexicon CEO Patrick Schueck said as part of his opening comments. “The intent was very clear. We wanted people to walk in here and understand that we can build your job. And to understand, beyond a shadow of a doubt, we would be your contractor of choice.”
Little Rock architectural firm Polk Stanley Wilcox was responsible for the design of the new spaces, with Nabholz Construction handling the building aspect.
Schueck was joined by Arkansas Attorney General Tim Griffin, who praised Lexicon’s workplace culture.
“What you’ve got here is a culture of excellence,” Griffin said. “If you get the right building, it will enhance your culture. You are presenting excellence to whoever does business with you.”
Lexicon announced a year ago that the company would be investing $37.6 million to expand its headquarters and operations, a move set to create 60 jobs. The company has also transitioned to being an employee-owned operation with the establishment of an employee stock ownership plan.
“This is a true testament to Tom and the Schueck family,” said Little Rock Mayor Frank Scott Jr., who participated in the groundbreaking. “But also to what Patrick has been able to do to see this vision through. Today is an example of true transformation, a true transition and a turning toward the future.”
