Lexicon Inc. of Little Rock is set to become one of the first fabricators in the U.S. to use a new robotics system.
The company will deploy the advanced robotics welding line, the AGT Robotics BLOK 500, at its Prospect Steel division in Blytheville.
The system, designed and built by AGT Robotics of Trois-Rivières, Quebec, is installed as a standalone production line that can automate the welding of oversized structural components. The BLOK system is customizable and modular. Lexicon’s specific setup is capable of handling parts that weigh up to 25,000 pounds.
The automation promises to reduce lead times, minimize rework and allow welders to focus on higher-value tasks rather than repetitive manual welding.
Lexicon already has other robotics lines in place in Blytheville, with the new installation marking the first phase of a strategy to modernize production capabilities across the company’s fabrication facilities. Full production on the new line begins in March.
