Emily Keith

Lexicon, Inc.

Director of Analytics

DAY AT WORK

Prior to Lexicon, I worked in accounting. Although some aspects of my work in that field touched on data analysis, report building and process development, the job was largely repetitive, with the same tasks recurring each month. The corporate analyst role at Lexicon was a unique opportunity to utilize many of my strengths across an organization, not just in the accounting department. Analytics is a field that is exploding as companies look to best utilize the data that they gather day-in and day-out. Construction has a lot of untapped potential uses of data that can drive the industry forward.

LOVE THE WORK

My job is new every day. Technology is moving so fast in this area, especially with AI. Every day brings new opportunities and challenges, so it keeps it fresh and exciting. Beyond that, I love helping people. It’s very rewarding to automate a process, provide a report with daily insights or implement a new solution that positively impacts someone’s daily job.

SURPRISING BUT TRUE

It can be rewarding and flexible at the same time. I have two young boys who I adore, and I’m able to enjoy a fulfilling career while also being a mom. The ability to work remotely (part-time or full-time) for many STEAM careers is such an advantage when it comes to juggling a work-life balance.

ADVICE

Dream big! There’s no reason you can’t be at the top of your field. Put in the hard work, seek opportunities, turn failures into learning opportunities and don’t stop working toward your goals.
