Lexicon, Inc. has hired Janell Schmidt, former vice president of HR for Elgin Fasteners Group and active-duty veteran to serve as Chief Human Resources (HR) officer.

The announcement was made stemming from a period of planning as the Arkansas-based company prepares to part ways with current vice president HR Danna Gauntt.

“As part of our succession planning, it was critical to prepare for current vice president of HR Danna Gauntt’s retirement less than two years away,” said Schueck. “Danna has been an invaluable member of the Lexicon family for more than 30 years and provides a wealth of background and information regarding our human resources operations. Having Danna and Janell overlap will allow her to fully transfer her knowledge and make this transition as smooth as possible for our entire team.”

Schmidt possesses a strong background for HR operations. She has served in numerous HR leadership positions for organizations such as HillPhoenix, Eaton Corporation, Collins Bus Corporation and recently Elgin Fasteners Group where Schmidt decreased employee turnover, managed the healthcare benefits program and also enhanced the company’s effort in employing and keeping prospects.

Growing up in Nebraska and Iowa, she enrolled at Upper Iowa University where she joined the U.S. Army Reserves after her freshman year. Schmidt later served in active duty during Operation Desert Storm and continued her career in military service with the Kansas Army National Guard, according to a press release.

“Janell comes to Lexicon as a seasoned HR professional, which means she has a proven track record not only as an impactful leader, but in understanding our company’s greatest asset: our people,” said Schuek. “Danna has been an invaluable member of the Lexicon family for more than 30 years and provides a wealth of background and information regarding our human resources operations. ”

“Having Danna and Janell overlap will allow her to fully transfer her knowledge and make this transition as smooth as possible for our entire team.”
