A total of 40 men and women earned welding and industrial maintenance certifications, equipping them with critical skills for Arkansas’s booming steel industry.
Catherine Brumbaugh, Director of Training and Development, expressed her excitement about the event. “It was incredibly exciting,” she said.
“We’re excited to see how we’re contributing back to Arkansas, how we’re contributing to the steel industry, and how we’re growing just our people in general.”
The university, which formalized its training programs in 2022, has been a significant player in the state’s economic development.
“But we formalized it in 2022.”
Tyler Greenwell, an Industrial Maintenance Technician graduate, shared his experience.
“Initially, it’s like, why not? But now, being here for about a year and a half, it helps us a lot more,” he said.
Greenwell highlighted the hands-on training he received, which included working with pumps, motors, and bearings.
Looking ahead, Lexicon University plans to expand its offerings.
“We’ll continue to grow by adding more trades programs, but we’re also adding leadership development coming up,” Brumbaugh said.
“Lexicon is a people company, not just a steel company, and because of that, our leadership becomes really critical to keeping our folks around.”
For those interested in joining Lexicon University, Brumbaugh recommended visiting their website or checking out their social media platforms.
As the university continues to grow, it remains committed to supporting Arkansas’s steel industry and its workforce.
