SDI Butler Overhead Crane Derailment Servicing

Following the derailment of SDI’s 90-foot-high, 190-ton overhead crane, Lexicon Industrial Maintenance responded to restore the crane and support the mill’s return to operation. The project required removing a 40-by-120-foot section of the roof to provide access, utilizing a 200-ton mobile crane and jack stands to safely reposition the crane, and reinstalling the roof structure upon completion. A 30-person crew worked around the clock across day and night shifts to complete the work and minimize mill downtime.
