Lexicon Earns Four Safety Awards from the American Institute of Steel Construction

Honor demonstrates the company’s commitment to upholding safety standards for employees

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (May 28, 2026) – Arkansas-based Lexicon, Inc. and its divisions have earned four safety awards from the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) for outstanding safety in 2025.

Each of the following divisions of Lexicon earned AISC’s steel fabricators Safety Award of Merit for having a Days Away, Restricted or Transferred (DART) injuries rate of less than 1.0.

  • Custom Metals – Little Rock, Ark.
  • Lexicon, Inc. – Little Rock, Ark.
  • Steel Fabricators of Monroe – Monroe, La.

Additionally, Prospect Steel in Armorel, Ark., earned a Safety Commendation for having a DART rate between 1 and 2.

“Safety is a top priority that we take very seriously, and we want every employee to go home to their family the same way they came to work — healthy and whole,” said Lexicon CEO Patrick Schueck. “That commitment is rooted in the core values of our company: people, quality, safety and innovation. We’re honored to be recognized once again for the work our teams do every day to build America safely and with excellence.”

Lexicon joins more than 180 other AISC members across the country in receiving prestigious safety awards. Award recipients were recently recognized at the 2025 Steel Conference in Atlanta. Additionally, a list of all honorees was published online and in a printed issue of Modern Steel Construction.

“Avoiding accidents at structural steel fabrication shops and jobsites is not an accident, it’s a skill,” said AISC senior director of engineering Tom Schlafly. “Skill, safety prioritization, experience and planning are required to run site and shop operations safely given their busy, fast-paced nature. AISC is proud to recognize companies whose employees worked through 2025 with few or no Days Away, Restricted or Transfer (DART) injuries.”

The safety awards program is open to all AISC member fabricators and erectors, and applications for the program are solicited annually. Safety award recipients are scored and selected based on DART rates that companies report to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). The DART rate measures the number of recordable lost work cases per 200,000 hours worked. AISC bases the awards on cases, not days, as reported to OSHA on the 300A form, along with hours worked in the year.
